Hi!

If you are referring to which level you should use (LG, UG, D, or R) for each child, check out the Stages & Ages "button" on the header above.

If you'd like to figure out which year plan you'd like to use first, you could click on each of the years above (Year One, Year Two, etc.) and look at the topics in each. Just start where you've left off in your history studies. If they're all at different places in their history studies, go with what fits your oldest child and let everyone else fall in.

Hope this helps. If not, post again and I'm sure someone else will chime in!

Blessings,
Monica

thats what i was looking for, not levels of grammar but where to start in history. would it be ok to start my 8th grader in yr one,(i only want to use redesign, so seems my only option) would that take care of credits in history in high school if we continue till 12th grade?

Tracy,

>>would it be ok to start my 8th grader in yr one,(i only want to use redesign, so seems my only option)<<

Actually, the redesign now covers both Year 1 and Year 2, so you could go with either. You can easily start your 8th grader in Year 1. If you did one year each year, you'd finish the cycle in your 8th-grader's 11th-grade year. Then depending on your child, you could either finish with Year 1 again, or let that child graduate early. Or, you'd have a little leeway in case of extenuating circumstances - if it takes you a little longer to finish any given year for whatever reason.

But if you've already covered ancient history recently, you could do Year 2 redesign this year instead. Either way is fine, so choose what fits your family best.

>> would that take care of credits in history in high school if we continue till 12th grade?<<

As long as you are doing at least Dialectic level work, you will have plenty of credits for high school history. Rhetoric level is better, of course, as it's much more in-depth, but there are many who say Rhetoric is advanced high school and don't start it until 10th or 11th grade. I don't recommend starting with Rhetoric level with an 8th-grader, though; it's pretty hard. I may do Rhetoric with my highly gifted now-6th-grader when she gets to 8th grade, after she's done Dialectic for a couple of years - I definitely wouldn't start with it.

In my opinion, Dialectic is more in-depth than most people get in high school. So you should be fine for high school credit.

Hope that helps some!

wow i didnt realized redesign was yr 2 too! i will go check out and see what it covers, i know she studied ancient history in 7th last yr in private school.but i thought it would be good to start with all levels at the beginning.
the idea of having some leeway is also a good idea, as i am not the most organized person in the world and having 7 children theres always delays.... some more to consider, i have to make a decision ASAP
thanks again for your replys

Hi! Even if your oldest had ancient history last year, you could easily do it again this year with TOG. There is so much there and it's a wonderful course covering all of Biblical history. Your younger ones would have so many fun activities from which to choose as well.

Yr 1 covers from creation through the Roman Empire. Yr 2 covers the Middle Ages, the Reformation and Renaissance, and the colonial period up through the Revolutionary War.

Blessings,
Monica
