I am trying to decide whether to buy the Y4 supplements in DE or stand-alone format. I am very impressed w/the DE format, but overall still prefer the hard copy of my curriculum because it will always be in sync w/the books on our shelves w/out having to cross-reference anything or check which DE updates I want (old-fashioned, I know). Since I have yrs 1-3 in hard copy, and the books for all four levels on our shelves, I ordered the print combo for YR4 as well. One of my fears w/the DE edition supplements is that, as the curriculum is changed due to books going in and out of print, that things like evaluations, etc. may also have to change and will not match the version and books we already own.

I do prefer stand-alone supplements, and am VERY grateful that you all are so flexible as to accommodate those few of us out here w/CDs. That being said, I really liked how they have been done in previous years with us being able to access them digitally until a final yearly CD comes out. It allows all the little bugs and errors to be fixed and I would much prefer single map-aids, evaluations and gov't cd's vs. having 4 separate ones for each supplement. I know that you all can only commit to one unit at a time right now, but is this something that you might do at the end of the year-compiling the 4 individual unit CD's for each supplement into one CD? And if you do, is there a way we can access the supplements until we receive a final CD?

I hope this makes some sense and that I'm not the only one w/this question. I know you're thinking "we just released this great digital product and she wants to go back to the dark ages!" Eeker I know, but figured I'd put it out there for you since you all seem to find amazing fixes for just about everything.

Lastly, in case you don't hear it enough, thank you for this curriculum and its flexibility. In our family, we really do appreciate all the hard work and brainstorming that you do to make Tapestry such a rich product!

Laura, you worded that very well.

And you aren't the only one with the question. I have purchased the resource books for all levels since I'm using them all, and because I have little ones coming up that will use them - some in 10 or more years! So I would like something that matches the resource books I have.

Thanks for listening, Marcia, Ray, and all!

Hi Laura,

Thank you for your gracious wording and encouragement. We certainly understand where you're coming from (I'm not a fan of a gazillion CDs either). Smiler

We do have an answer for this that will be available when we're done writing Year 4: At that time, we will have one full-year stand-alone CD for each supplement, like we do for other years. At that point we'll discontinue the unit-by-unit CDs. Once those full year CDs are available, you'll be able to send back your gazillion CDs (Smiler) and we'll exchange them for the full year CDs. There will be a $5 fee (no matter how many CDs) for this. We'll post details and a special order form to make this available when Year 4 is complete (Spring '10).
