I am printing some pages from Y4 Unit 1. I have found that pages 41 and 42 from the Teacher's Notes section of Week 6 won't print. I originally printed pages 42 and 43, and page 42 didn't print. I then tried printing 42 by itself, but that didn't work. I then tried printing pages 41 and 42 and neither one printed. I don't know if other pages before 41 won't print.

I ran into this with one page in Year 3 DE, but I was able to get around it because it was a worksheet page available on the loom. I don't remember which page it was.

Have you heard of this problem before? If it matters, I'm on a Mac.

Hi, Rhonda!

When I tested it on my iMac, I noticed that those pages printed VERY SLOWLY. Make sure you don't give up too quickly and cancel the print job.

Thanks for the reply, Ray.

It doesn't even try to print it. It just spits out a blank page, right away. I wonder if I could play with some printer settings (quality, etc.).

My husband looked at it and couldn't find what the problem is. He's a computer guy, so he's pretty good at that kind of thing. He seems to think there's some sort of code error that our computer can't handle. That could explain why your printer (which I'm assuming is better quality than my HP C7100 All-in-One) is printing those pages so slowly.

I'm trying to find other Year 4 DE users to see if they have the same problem, but I haven't had any luck yet.

I tried to print on both my Dell 926 AIO and my hp Laserjet, and p.40-44 all printed fine and all at about the same speed.

Thanks for the input, Janet. By the way, Rhonda, the printer I'm using is an HP L7580 All-in-one.

So, it seems like it's a printer issue, not a document issue. Sounds like there's something in the document on that page/those pages that the HP deskjets don't like.

I'll do some more testing on this end ... anyone else want to give us your test results?

By the way, when I print those pages from my PC to the same printer, they prints immediately ... so it sounds like a Mac -> HP deskjet problem.

Thanks, Ray. I've found another person that had no problem with a PC and an HP6100. It sounds like it's not going to be an easy problem to track down.

I have a Mac and an HP printer and just printed p. 40-43 with no problem. 41 and 42 printed just like the other two. So it must be even more confined than Mac -> HP. Mysterious...

We think we have another clue. My husband noticed that pages 41 and 42 both contain the "chapter square" graphics. We then tried to print page 15 of the Student Activity pages (which contains the same chapter squares) and it would not print, either. Looking at the LockLizard support site, we found an FAQ referring to Visio diagrams not printing if you don't have PCL drivers (and we don't). Are these Visio diagrams?

The documents are created in Adobe InDesign, but my guess is it's the same kind of thing as MS Visio -- something with the shapes. Chances are HP has PCL drivers available. That (using PCL drivers) was the solution for another problem.

We run Parallels on our Mac. Can we download Locklizard for the PC and use the same license to print from the PC? My husband believes we would be able to print from the PC side.

Rhonda,

It would take an additional license to run from Parallels (because it would be considered a different "computer" in LockLizard's eyes). Email me at digital@tapestryofgrace.com and I'll set up the second license for you.
