When we developed the new interface, the slate was put under the introductory text of the unit. This looked fine on our large monitors and it was easy to tell when the contents of the slate had changed because a different week or supplement was clicked.

However, for our customers who have 1024x768 monitors (which is probably most of you), the slate is (in newspaper lingo) "below the fold" so you have to scroll down to see the slate.

When Unit 2 is released in a few weeks, you'll be able to download the updated interface with the slate at the top of the page, so this should cut down on some of the scrolling.
