Hi,
I am considering Year 1 for next year. I have used Year 2 and Year 4 in the past and my older children really benefitted from them. As I look through the books required my concern is with the DK Illustrated Family Bible and second commandment violations. I have seen many posts on the forums with parents raising concerns about nudity in art but I find a much graver issue in pictoral representations of our Lord. Does the DK book contain images represented as of Christ or of God? I see that it is recommended for several weeks. We have many translations of scripture and the Victor Journey Through the Bible for background information. Would this substitute for the DK book?

Hi Sharon,
Yes, I'd say that most Bible picture books (including the ones we suggest) have perceived illustrations of Jesus in one form or another. If you do wish to avoid this, then definitely I'd encourage you go to with the Victor Journey Through the Bible (It's very good!) and a regular Bible.

Blessings,

like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"
