We discovered TOG after my oldest son's 9th grade year. How should I fit 4 years of History into his 3 remaining high school years? Also, if we condense or eliminate things, how will I fill in gaps for my now 8th grader?

Hi,
I personally think it would be really difficult to squeeze four Year-Plans into three years. These are *meaty*, and the assignments will keep him busy and thinking! Smiler

Therefore, especially in light of having younger students also, I would suggest that you not worry about completing all Year-Plans. Even if he only gets through three, these will be very beneficial to him...probably more so than a rush job and not getting the full benefit of having time to think through questions and writing assignments.

Please feel free to ask more questions for clarity if you need to.

Blessings,

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I'm relieved to hear we don't need to cram 4 years into 3 or skip units. Since some colleges like to see US History and American Govt on the transcript, how would you suggest I handle missing Year 4? A quick summer overview?

Hi,
I would count Year 3 as US History (the end of Year 2 is also heavy in US History, so it balances out). Both Years 2 and 3 will also give, in totality, the government credit.

If your student has never studied the 20th century, I would encourage him to at least read a book during the summer. The Bookshelf sells one (The Complete Idiot's Guide to the 20th Century) that would be a good "catch-up" to current times.

Blessings,

Hello!
We are considering bringing our now 10th grader home. How do we organize his credits from last year with what we accomplish this year?
