Ok - I'm already very confused. One Week 1 of D geography (pg. 21), it has about 15 basic things to label, but it doesn't say which map to print from MapAids. And on MapAids it doesn't have very many answers for D Week 1. There are many maps to print for week 1, and that's fine, but which labels go with which maps? I thought MapAids would just walk me through this easily. (Yes, I got A's in geography in school but that was toooo long ago!).

I'm hoping someone will tell me I'm just looking in the wrong parts of MapAids because it will take me forever and a day to look all these up myself.

Thanks much.

Deb

Hi Deb,
All of the answers are in the "Teacher" column. The two student maps you will use are in the "dialectic/rhetoric" column, unless you are doing the transparency project.

Hope this clears things up. If not, feel free to try again.

Blessings,

Okay, I'm seeing some of the answers now. I don't know if anyone has had this happen before, but when I printed the Africa answers map for Week1, not all the labels printed. For example, Atlas mountains didn't print, and only 2 of the rivers were labeled etc... I wonder if I hit "print" before the document had been fully loaded up to my computer.

One other thought - if I didn't have MapAids to tell me which maps to print on a given week, I think I'd be lost. It may be helpful to list the country in which these areas are located in the actual curriculum.

Thanks again.

One more question - I am doing paper maps this year. Not the overlays. Is there any reason to print the Base Maps in the Teacher column?

Thanks again.

I also found week 1 to be confusing. I am using paper maps. I printed the egypt and Africa ones and then printed the World Map one online to do the basic geography. I don't know if it was right or not. The rest of the weeks are straight forward, but they do need to print exactly which maps to use for the dialectic level.

We did Week 1 this week. I had originally printed a blank world map and the Africa and Egypt maps; as my dd was going through the assignment we realized she really needed a copy of the Mediterranean and Near East maps too. I don't think she used the Africa map at all; she did use the world map and the Mediterranean and Near East ones.

I think Week 1 is the most confusing of all the MapAids work; after that it seems to get more straightforward.

Hope that helps someone,

Hi, I have a question about Y1W1 in both areas of Map Aides and the UG vocabulary. I have looked through the teacher notes and on the "Loom" and can't find the answers to the definitions on both the different landforms and also the definitions to the assigned vocabulary words. I know I can use the dictionary with my boys to find the answers, but is there a specific location in the TOG material that lists the information my boys need to learn the vocabulary terms and the meanings of different landforms?
