Fathers have more influence on the home than they tend to recognize. We know when our children have bad attitudes--do we notice our own? An attitude of gratitude makes a huge difference to our homes.

By gratitude, I don't primarily mean thanking your wife for her hard work, good cooking, or daily sacrifices (although I recommend it!). Today I'm talking about an attitude of gratitude to God--specifically, gratitude for what He is doing in and with your family minute by minute.

God is always at work, and He is always doing good to those He has called according to His purposes. (Rom. 8:28.) The problem is, we rarely notice what He's up to.

In our home, we often talk about "EGG hunts." An EGG is an "evidence of God's grace," and we have learned to keep on the lookout for them. I'll come home in the evening and ask my children, "What is the best thing that happened to you all day?" It's amazing how quickly a bunch of weary people can cheer up when they remember a good moment together around the dinner table.

Prov. 25:2 says, "It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out." God plays hide and seek with His children. He is hiding... are we seeking?
