I am looking at the loom, where I see that my student can earn a credit for History of the Ancient World and a credit for EITHER English III OR Literature and composition separately. So, what would make the difference between earning 1 credit for English III or 1 and 1/2 credits (1 for Ancient Lit and 1/2 for composition)?
Then, in the "separate disciplines" section, there is a Bible credit listed. Is this earned in addition to the history credit?? Is that why it says "Bible Readings count double this week" (or something to that effect) in the threads in some weeks? Just trying to understand what we're working toward here. Thanks, TOG! Hi Bonnie,
When you combine literature and composition (and possibly grammar), the student can earn an English credit. When you combine these disciplines, the student won't need to do every single assignment that we list in either subject. However, you might (check your state or umbrella school requirements first) be able to give a separate Literature (1 full credit) or Composition credit (1/2 credit) by completing nearly all of the assignments in the year-plan. When something counts double, you act as if the student did it twice...he had one Bible assignment, and one History assignment. However, he is not actually doing it twice but because the subject matter merges, you can count it for both. Does that make sense? Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
