quote: I noticed that WP (as far as I can tell) does not cover american history seperately
Not sure what you mean by "WP". However, we are starting TOG Year 3 this year, having studied the founding of America in the second half of Year 2 last year. I find it to be of great value to incorporate American history with the rest of the world because we don't, after all, live on an island! To give a specific example, we are currently studying the French Revolution, and how Napoleon sold the Louisiana Purchase to Thomas Jefferson. Knowing what was going on in France at the time helped us all understand why Napoleon wanted to sell it in the first place. As a second example, the Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain and then moved here. This method only enhances students' understanding of our country's history. Michelle

Too many abbreviations, lovinmomma? Welcome to my world. I figured you meant "week-plan"!

I think that as long as American history (or whatever history goes with whatever country you are from) is well covered it doesn't matter if it is taught separately or integrated. Both methods have pros and cons, but I think that it's a wash.
