Hi there!

Last year was our first year with TOG, and we did not do anything with category of "People" found on p. 6 of each week's plan.

What are some suggestions that all of you do? How do you have your students interact with the great list of people that is given to us?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Ronda,

What levels do you have in your family? For grammar levels, I always chatted during the week with my children and asked them to, "Tell me about ..."

For D, we use our weekly discussions to make connections.

The people list is also a good source of ideas for any writing projects, narrations, etc.

Enjoy,
Monica

I have R, D and UG kids.

I'm thinking of requiring a small paragraph for each, but I'm a little afraid that they will struggle to find the info and be frustrated. Still thinking on this.

I just have my kids copy the info from the people glossary. They do it at the beginning of the week, so they come across names they are already familiar with. When I say copy, I mean they type out the info, not copy and paste. Doubles as typing practice!

I have a sheet with all the people listed on it in my kids notebook. On our last day of the week, we go through the list and talk about each of the people. Then, anyone we forget about, we check out in the People Glossary that is part of the Evaluations CD

We usually try to find books from the library about them especially for my kids 6th grade and under. We read the book and then they either write a paragraph about the person or they narrate back to me.
