I just wondered if anyone has any advice on the difficulty of some families within the same co-op using Classic and some using Redesigned.

It would be EASIEST with Year 1. It would be nearly impossible with Years 2 or 3. The book lists are very different and the topics have been completely rearranged in the latter two year-plans. With Year 1, the topics remained virtually unaltered; only book lists were freshened up, and, of course, discussion outlines were expanded for history. For Rhetoric Lit, though, the difference is huge even in Year 1.

Our co-op has found that we must all be using the same version for it to work well. For this next school year, with most of us already owning Classic, we have opted to stay with that version, though this year we all used Yr 1 Redesign. This means that several of our families are on the lookout for used Classic editions. It seems to be the best solution for us.
