I'm confused at what selections from the Origin of Species I'm supposed to have available for my R level students. Is the link the entire book? It's not clear from the website nor the link.
Thanks. Blessings to you and your family. Diane--Wife of Shannon--Mom of Josh (R), Kyra (R), Hunter (D), Ian (D), Logan (UG), Mathias (LG), Emma (LG), Sawyer (K), Forest, Autumn and baby due 3/22/10. |

Hi,
I agree that it's not clear. I personally assigned portions from the first two chapters just to give my student a general idea of his writing and thoughts. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |

Plugged In Online had a blurb about Expelled this week that includes a good quote to read in terms of Darwin in the 19th century but will certainly give you the royal road to the Eugenics movement of the 20th century.
You can read the whole article here: http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0004010.cfm (not sure this link will last long, so print it off or save it as a file on your computer.)
Pat "The first qualification for judging any piece of workmanship from a corkscrew to a cathedral is to know what it is — what it was intended to do and how it is meant to be used." C.S. Lewis "One of the major flaws in some forms of reader-response criticism is that they tend to ignore the compact between author and audience, overlook that the author had some purpose and information to convey when he wrote the document, and assume that it is the reader who can and must decide what sorts of things, including what sort of meaning, one can derive from a text."
