Does anyone have any suggestions on how to grade the evaluation essays? We are finding this too subjective for our liking. When it gives you points an excellent answer should include, any ideas about how many of those points listed should be included in the essay to earn an A, or a B, or so on.

We give more than enough points because different kids will choose different ones. I'm sorry we can't be more exact! We're trying to serve a variety of family settings: it's not like we have been the teacher and know what's gone on in the classroom.

What you should do is to think about what your kids have covered at that level, and how many of the points you've covered should be included in the essay your student wrote. It's not that he needs to get OUR list 90% right; it's how many of the points that YOU covered has he been able to incorporate in his answer?

Does this help?

Blessings,
Marcia
