Hi, Everyone! Next fall, I will have a 16 yo dd in 11th grade and a 14 yo ds in 9th grade. The last two years, we've done Redesigned Years 1 and 2, and therefore, we will be starting Redesigned Year 3 next fall. My 16 yo dd has done all of the government assignments for Year 2, and I plan to have her continue on in Years 3 and 4. My question is...should I have my 14 yo, 9th grade son do government along with her, or are the concepts too difficult for a 14 yo to adequately grasp (he is an average student)?
I would suggest deciding which way you want to go. You could start with less and add more or you could start with all and then take away if there are struggles. A lot of how you approach this depends on your student's reaction to things.
I know that in literature TOG works up over the year. I am not sure if government also does that. If it does. I'd go with start with all and let that raise him up.
