I will try to make this short as possible.

I got the Yr 3 Redesigned last summer during the whole print cycle. We went strong for the first few months then stopped because of co-op classes overload (MY FAULT!!). Then tried to start back up in January then co-op overload took over again. Now we are trying to hurry through the last few weeks of Unit 1. I know you are asking what happened. What happened was I signed the kids up for many classes that looked really good. So we were gone most of the time and not home much. Also I work a part time job. (NOW I work even more hours so I am now "lite" full time according to my job)

The good news is: We are no longer involved in the co-op we were in the last 9 yrs. Too many eye candy for classes. We are now just in a very small, low key co-op that just has Art classes, science lab (high school only), Math Penthalion, and PE.

Now about my kids:
I have 3 kids. One will be a 9th grader this fall, 6th grader and 4th grader this fall. My biggest issue is my 9th grader. He was in Dialectic for Yr 3 Unit 1.

I am not sure whether I should rush through Yr 3 so he can go through yr 3 one more time before graduation? I would love for him to stay in Dialectic and go though the yr 3 one more time in Rhetoric. What should I do? I know I can't claim Dialectic as high school work. I am hoping to start yr 4 by January.

Is this doable?

The kids are ok with it. Alot of stuff will have to be cut out though. I still want some literature and the main core to be done as well as mapwork.

Is this doable?

Sorry I keep asking this question.

Thanks!!

Dear Holly,

Year 3 is our favorite year of all (we've done it twice, now). I'd vote for bumping your son up to rhetoric level in Unit 2 and spending the entire school year on Year 3, rather than cramming it into one semester. The literature in Year 3 at rhetoric level is accessible to younger rhetoric students, and the history/geography/church history/philosophy threads of Year 3 are important for an understanding of Year 4.

Just my $.02,
