My 15 yo dd has completed two Evaluations so far - and the Essay portion is giving her fits!

She's a good, strong, writer, and I suspect that she's just taking too much time on her answers.

Last week, I let her take as much time as she needed - which was about 45 minutes. This week, she couldn't finish in the alloted time. So now what?

I think this is a skill she needs to learrn, for college and SAT testing, etc.

Ideas?

Heather,

Do you have Writing Aids? It explains how to manage your alloted time efficiently in the Essay Test Taking section - 20% for pre-writing, 70% for writing, 10% for polishing. These are the recommendations I've seen elsewhere, too.

What I really think essay test-taking boils down to, however, is preparation (know the information) and practice.

Blessings,
