I noticed on the WA disc that there is no grading rubric for persuasive writing (levels 4-11), but there is one with persuasive essay. Would you suggest using the rubric with persuasive essay to grade the persuasive writing (level 7), or is there something else? Thanks so much!

You could use the persuasive essay rubric, but you will need to keep in mind that an essay has some requirements that may not apply to a simple persuasive writing assignment. In light of this, you may also find it helpful to look at the grading strategy for paragraphs as well. This should help you focus on the basic aspects of good writing with your student, with the addition of the specifically persuasive elements from the persuasive essay rubric.
