This is my first year with a R student, and first time using yr3. Is the Poetics document used exclusively for year 3, or have R students read parts and pieces of this in yrs 1 and 2? Just trying to figure out if my dd needs to do any pre-reading of this document before we start school. Thanks!

We assume that students could be entering R level Literature studies in any year (as your daughter is doing in Year 3), so each year we "restart" from the ground up for what we call "Beginning Level" students. This means that your daughter does not need to do any pre-reading, and all you need to do is have her follow the Beginning Level track, unless some of the Continuing Level topics look so interesting that you just can't leave them alone. :-) Next year, she will be a Continuing Level student.
