Hi,

I just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly, but the assign. for week 1 in frameworks alone seems to be about 50 pages. I understand it as pages 3-6, section III intro through Section A. 1-2. That is alot of reading to do sitting at a computer screen. Is that right? Or are you just suppose to read the section not all the pages in between.

My next question if you need to read all of that, I would get kind of frustrated with that many pages looking at a screen instead of a book and because it says not to print them yet, my next question is does this stuff relate to the actually literature books assigned? What is the benefit of this - can I skip this stuff? Is this suppose to be part of the weekly discussion?

This is my first year with a high schooler so some of this is quite daunting.
thanks
Lisa

Lisa,
I think I can help clarify - someone please chime in if I am incorrect Red Face) (I'm a newbie also). I believe it means not to print everything at once, in case changes are made... but you could certainly print just what you need for a given week.
Now for the actual assigned reading -
Intro pgs 3-6
III Intro pgs 57-58
III A. 1&2 pgs 58-61
So it's actually only about 9 pages of reading - which I will definitely print out - my daughter would go batty if she had to read it on the puter Smiler
Hope this helps a bit

norma my problem is that it says through to those sections so unless I'm looking at the on line version wrong it seems to be way more than just a few pages. I'm double checking right after I leave this message. thanks for trying to help

Lisa, Norma is mostly correct (slight difference on the intro pages!). These are the current pages that you want to do:
Intro sections 3-6, which are currently pgs 4-5
III Intro, currently pgs 57-58
III A. 1&2, currently pgs 58-61

Please be aware that page numbers will shift slightly, which is why we are referring to sections (e.g. III Intro, section 3-6) instead of pages. I think that your confusion is probably due to that, and it makes sense to me: we need to reword the chart a bit to make it clearer! But anyway, your 50 pages of Frameworks reading have shrunk to 9, which should be affordable and easy for you to print if you don't want your student to read them onscreen, so I hope that's comforting to you! I will look at our chart and try to see if I can adjust the wording. :-)
