Will you please tell me where I can find an excell spreadsheet book list for Y3 primary and additional resources? I have the list from the bookshelf. This appears to be incomplete. I have an additional resource list but it is missing ISBN #'s that have been provided on previous book lists (Y1 and Y2). Thank You.

Marilyn,
As far as I know, the excel spreadsheet booklists are no longer being published. I think there are plans to start doing that in the future again, but there are currently no complete lists. If you go to the Loom, there is a Booklists entry where you can get the Alternate books. You can create your own document by cutting and pasting from the Bookshelf and the Loom. I did it recently and it worked great! Robin |

Robin is completely correct in all the above points. If you need hand holding for creating an Excel spreadsheet from the Bookshelf Central search lists, give them a call. They'll walk you thru it over the phone.
We hope to provide book lists in the months ahead for the finished year-plans, but this is our busy season and we find that most customers can get what they need from a combination of the Bookshelf search engine and the Alternates lists offered on your Loom. I am looking for the same thing, but really miss the weeks used column and the book descriptions. I used Y2 this year, and have marked up and made decisions using the spreadsheet that included "weeks used" and "book descriptions". I have managed to put together a Y3 spreadsheet using the information available, and have searched and searched for the info I am missing. Is it available "out there somewhere" and I am just missing it, or has it not been provided for Y3 redesigned?

Last year, we made a quality decision to remove Excel spreadsheets from our Loom discs. This was because the same information (which is volatile, and changes more than we'd like because books go out of print) was repeated on our Bookshelf, in the Excel lists, and on our Book Update Chart. Some places didn't jive--easy to understand with so many balls in the air--so we consolidated down to one resource: the search engine we designed for the Bookshelf, which could easily be exported to an Excel spreadsheet if anyone wanted that feature.
Well, constant change is here to stay! This past winter, we were led to convert TOG to a digital delivery format (DE) and we sold the Bookshelf to Dana Caywood. Thus, Lampstand Press (publishers of TOG) and the book-buying resource store (Bookshelf Central) became two separate, but mutually supportive, entities. Dana has now mounted new software on Bookshelf Central that does not produce the handy chart that was easily converted to an Excel spreadsheet. Therefore, we are going to restore fresh versions of the Resource Lists of old in the next update of DE. (This is a huge benefit of DE in action, by the way. DE allows us a painless way to change your copy of the curriculum for the better as the world around us changes, and to make available for free enhancements, updates, and change pages!) In the next few days, we will be hammering out the exact format of the new Resource Lists. They may be in Excel formats, or they may be in protected pdc formats (as are the Alternate Book lists on your Looms). We need to weigh not only the useability of these lists, but the ways they are accessed and the ways they are updated. No one option is obviously perfect; each technology has strengths and limitations, so please pray for wisdom for us. We should be getting them to you (in whatever format) in our next update--probably in about two to three weeks--for Years 1, 2, and 3. For Year 4 customers, we will provide a cumulative book list with each unit you purchase as the year unfolds. Hope that helps! Blessings, Marcia No one can do me a greater kindness in this world than to pray for me. --Charles Spurgeon |

As you are planning, I just wanted to give some input into how one family has used and would like to use the lists.
I sometimes want the lists sorted by Unit and level so that I can sort books for the year and put them on various bookshelves. Then, I use the list sorted by level for the whole year and by subject - mainly so that I can get a list of literature books read for transcripts for high school, but it is helpful for an overview look at the whole year for other levels, too. I also like to be able to search for a book to see what unit and weeks it is used - mainly now for reshelving (especially with multi-unit books). I'll probably use it more the next cycle around if I want to substitute books or customize the studies when there are busy weeks. I also have used the lists alphabetized by title for ease in ordering and checking my inventory. I will be praying for wisdom as you weigh so many different needs and wants! A quick question that was asked on the Simply TOG e-mail group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SimplyTOG
<Hello. I am assuming that these resource lists will be posted on the Loom for those of us with a hard copy rather than the DE edition. Is that the case? Thank you.> I didn't know the correct answer, but thought I would post here, as I'm sure others may have similar questions. Thanks so much for your help! We are on our 4th year of Tapestry (all grammar students so we move slowly and are doing year 3 this year). I loved the book list we received with year 1 with Marcia's notes and recommendations for sharing books between two levels. I also enjoyed the excel spreadsheet usability. I am sorely missing the book list as I try to plan our upcoming year and would love to see that out again. I know it is alot of work and really do appreciate it. I hope that you will make it available to those of us that have already purchased hard copies before you came out with DE.

Are you seriously telling me that there is no booklist for a curriculum that I paid over $200 for, and I can't even get my hands on a digital booklist? Digital or Printed? This curriculum is literature based. I can get Sonlight's book list (and anyone elses without buying the curriculum. BUT I BOUGHT IT! This is not right. Are you seriously asking every customer to cut and paste a list that one person could put together and post? Yes, we would like to be able to sort by unit, by level, by subject. I don't think this is asking too much. It should definitely be on the loom right in front of the alternative book list. Does that really seem like too much to ask? I saw this discussed in April. It is now June.

Sorry, if I seem a bit irate. But I am sitting here getting ready to go to the Curriculum fair printing out a 25 page ALTERNATE book list, and the only way to get the Official book list is to bring all my four volumes with me or play cut and paste for an hour or so on my computer. It's just not right.

Randi,
I'm not sure my response will help you with your current problem, but I just wanted to tell you that there is a booklist for Y3. If you want the table format for the Resource List for Y3, go to the Store on the Lampstand Press web site (not Bookshelf Central). Login to your account and then click on Resource List. I just tested the one for Y3 and it worked great. Another way to generate a list is to visit Bookshelf Central and create a shopping list as you search by year, level or unit. I just add books to my cart and then print that list to have a hard copy to take with me. Just so you understand, Lampstand Press was never keeping that information from the customers. All along we've been able to generate a list at the Bookstore. There was a short period of time this Spring, when these lists were not available, due to all the changes going on. Recently, Lampstand Press decided to work toward a long-term solution that would allow them to give us even better customer support. Thus, they found a secure way to post the resource lists. These lists will eventually contain more detailed information to help us in our planning. There have been several posts on the forum about these lists over the past two weeks. I encourage you to post a question or call the company if you are having trouble figuring something out. The customer service at Lampstand Press is top notch. They are always very gracious and kind in their response. I hope this helps you out! Eia |

I don't know if it helps the previous poster out, but it sure helps ME out.
I spent hours last week figuring out which books, for which level, of all of Year 3 off of Bookshelf Central and then cross-referencing with our library, trying to figure out what I needed to budget for this year. The resource list is AMAZINGLY helpful. I only wish I had known it existed before, but I'm very grateful! Thank you! I printed off the Y3 Rhetoric Booklist and noticed that the Literature Anthology is not listed....is that just an opps? Also, is there anything else missing from the list that you know of?
Thanks, Barb Spanier |

Hi Barb,
That particular product is a Lampstand Press eProduct, and as such, doesn't show up on the Bookshelf Central search engine. So my guess is that's why it's not showing up on the LP resource list either. I'll make a note to get that corrected asap. And no, there is nothing else missing that I know of. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
