We will have to skip three weeks of Y3 Unit 4 (or combine, to make the whole unit last only 6 weeks).

Which weeks?

I'm just jumping in to say we're in the same boat so I'm hoping you get some good advice!

I am going to double up the weeks for this purpose. I am trying to organize myself for my son who will be high school age next year, and I see this would be terrible at that stage. But, for now, since we have the freedom and some big pressures to be done by June, I'm going to 1)double the reading 2) pick one set of spelling words each week 3)select a reasonable amount of map work 4)select the most interesting accountability/discussion questions from the groupings of two weeks-worth and...call it good! I guess we'd better start early next academic year to make sure this doesn't happen again! Life's just too full of good things....

We also are in the same boat, we've opted to skip the mini unit on Africa wks 28, 29, 30...thought we'd do a quick summary of general facts about Africa and colonization over there and missionaries too. My kids are still Lower and Upper grammar so I still feel I have some freedom and we'll come back to it in 4 years. Also if we still have some books to read, during the summer I keep a book basket out and we'll continue reading the suggested books in a leasurely manner...either as read alouds or silently...
