Somewhere I saw a list of movies that families could view at their discretion, which supported the Y3 curriculum. i.e. "Newsies" For the life of me I have no idea where I saw that list. Does anyone else know where I might have come across it? Having the option to watch a movie at the end of a topic of study is often a great motivator for my kids. Thanks!

Are you thinking of the Enrichment line, under Rhetoric level? i.e., wk. 1 VIDEO: Sense and Sensibility and The Scarlet Pimpernel, wk. 2 Horatio Hornblower?? These are found on the right side of the Reading assignments, "Alternate or Extra Resources", bottom of the page, far right corner...

Hope this helps. Wow. If I'm right about this I actually answered a question instead of asking one. I think I'm finally getting into a groove with this curr., now that we're in our 3rd year.

We are watching the John Adams miniseries (new) while we are in the early weeks of yr 3 Redesigned - we are loving it! We are huge Horatio Hornblower fans, so we will be watching those again. In addition, we will celebrate finishing Pride and Prejudice by watching the wonderful 6 hour BBC production as we have time. So many movies, so little time...
Blessings,
April

We saw the first segment of that on tv, now I want to own it. It was great. Friday night movies are indeed great motivators, for all of us!

We are just on Week 5 and we watched Amazing Grace over the weekend. I highly recommend it. Covers the life of William Wilberforce and William Penn. The DVD becomes a teaching disc in your computer after you've watched the movie. There are discussion notes, historical information and study guides.
It's worth the investment for this year plan.
We all enjoyed it!

While I also recommend it (we own the movie), I would caution parents that there is at least one cursing in it. There is also a reference to rape, and a scene where a child is burned to death (not graphic). I would suggest parents watch it first, as with any movie.
