My oldest son is to be married on August 4th. Last Sunday, in the early morning hours, his fiance's sister was murdered. She was 15, didn't know the Lord, and lived life on the wild side. She put herself in a dangerous situation and payed the ultimate price for it.

The family is broken and angry, understandably. The only believer in the family is my future daughter-in-law and she is taking this extremely hard. I think she has always felt extra responsibility for her sister, due to family circumstances.

Please pray for my future d.i.l., Ginamarie, my son, Andrew, and the family of Stacey Gloe.

Thank you for your prayers. Tomorrow we are traveling to Florida for the wedding, which will be Saturday. Please continue in your prayers for Ginamarie, Andrew, and Ginamarie's family. Please pray that Ginamarie and Andrew's wedding will still be a joyous time, despite the absence of her sister being very felt. Again, thanks for praying!

Its amazing how the Lord directs us. I just thought I needed to click here tonight and read this prayer request. I hope the wedding went well. This grieved my heart when I read it! Please keep us updated!

Thank you all for your prayers! When we arrived in Florida things were much as I expected them to be - overshadowed by Stacey's death.

BUT God is good. As the wedding rehearsal began the pastor prayed specifically for my (then future) d.i.l. and her family and all that they were going through and that His presence just be among us. And it was! It's not that God's presence wasn't there before - of course it was - but it just became so obvious. The rehearsal went great and at the dinner that night my d.i.l. was herself for the first time that I know of since her sister's death. She laughed, put ice down her brother's back, and had a good time. My husband and I sat with her mom & step-dad and they were clearly enjoying themselves too. It was a blessing!

And the wedding was truly joyous! Her sister was remembered through memorial candles lit on both sides of the alter, but there was no grieving there. It was a beautiful, God-honoring day, as ALL wedding days should be, and I know that was only by the grace of our Lord. It's now a day that my son & daughter-in-law can look back on with joyous memories. God is good!

My d.i.l. and son did get grief counseling from a Christian counselor - 4 sessions, even squeezing one in during their honeymoon week, and I think that has helped. A week after the wedding they had to leave to start up their job again, which is traveling and putting on assemblies in schools, etc. (to start with this semester they'll be working with Youth for Christ)so the sessions had to come to an end, but they will stay in touch with the grief counselor over the phone, etc.

I pray that Christ may shine through this and my d.i.l. 's family will be open to knowing Him. My d.i.l. 's church has been WONDERFUL, doing all and more that a church should do and being a wonderful witness to her unsaved family.
