Please pray a quick little pray for peace of heart and mind for me. I'm feeling a little anxious about homeschooling this year. It's my first year, with my kids out of public school for the first time. They are 9 and 7. I'm just starting to feel like I'm not going to be ready, or I won't have everything I need. Thanks!

Diana

Praying for you. We too came from the public school setting. My older three children were public/private schooled. My youngest daughter began homeschooling after 2nd grade. We just finished our third year of homeschooling. The first year was a huge adjustement ! Remember.. you are not trying to copy the public school setting. It will be different and that is what you want ! You will realize after you have completed the year how much your children have learned, what their learning styles are, and that you CAN do this. Each year that we have homeschooled I have learned more and more and have become confident in my ability to provide my child a great education and godly character training all along the way. The first year was an adjustement for my child also. I think she too was unsure of what to expect. She has grown to be a more obedient child with a love for the Lord, which is our primary reason for homeschooling. Her test scores are always very high and she is confident in her knowledge and the work that she puts out.

Blessings in your homeschool journey !!!

I know this has been a while but just curious Diana if you started school and how it is going?

I supposed I should update you all after my original post. I actually forgot I posted!

We have been schooling for 4 weeks now, and it has gone so well, even better than I expected! Praise God! There have been some moments of adjustment, and we are certainly not past that. I'm struggling with the kids in math, as I'm finding out just how far behind they both are. But I'm committed to just taking it slow and making sure they know the basics before we continue with their books. And my son doesn't like doing deskwork (i.e., math workbook, copywork, word bank, pretty much anything involving sitting and writing). There are often tears when he learns of his next assignment, but I'm praying he will understand that it's not as overwhelming as he thinks, and there's always something fun to do as well.

Anyway, we're doing great and I really appreciate all the prayers and the support of this group.

Thanks,
Diana
