The Teacher Answer Key map for Week 30 for Dialectic/Rhetoric has three areas shaded bright yellow that, according to the Week 30 map color key mean those countries were Italian. However the same 3 areas were shaded yellow on the Week 29 Teacher Answer key map to indicate they were Belgian.
Also, it seems that the area that would be the "Belgian Congo" is always left white - never shaded as a Belgian holding. But only Liberia and Ethiopia remained independent. The Week 28 Supplement 8 Africa map has two similar shades of colors used for Belgian and Italian areas. It indicates the the Belgian Congo is the only Belgian area and that Libya, Eritrea and "Italian Somaliland" are to be shaded as Italian. So, it seems the color code key for week 29 answer key is mis-labelled. If the Belgian Congo were labeled Belgian and the Italian regions were left off until the Week 30 map, that would match the Supplement 8 map. Could someone look into this and let us know if new maps are posted on the web page (or explain the confusion)? Gratefully yours, Beth Ann from WI |
