Hi Juanita! i had to reply even though we're starting Year 4 - we're in Hinton! I only know four other homeschooling mamas in my town and thought it was so neat that somebody close by was doing TOG, too - this is my first year, but it's where we're at in our history studies... It looks like i will have to do a lot of subs as Year 4 looks very "president intensive" - i'm thinking i'll use "Portraits of Faith" (Canadian heros of faith) book and try to focus on what was happening worldwide and in Canada at the same time... But some of it i will just do...

Hello All,
I managed to get a used Classic Year Three, which cam ein the mail on Friday, and I was paricularly looking forward to the resource section (about 36 yellow pages listing all of the spines and supplements for the various ages) but it is not there in my used set! Does anyone who has used Classic Year Three know whether there was a resource section included in the base unit for that year-plan? I really found this section helpful when using years one and two. Being Canadian, and wanting to include Canadian history alongside the US, things are a bit less straight-forward for us. Particularly where the War of 1812 is concerned - whoops, was that out loud? Just kidding - I am trying to seek some sort of balance there, in fact! We Canucks have lots of decisions to make about which TOG books and reading assignments to use during late Year Two and all of Year Three. I feel a little lost, having to comb through all of the week plans for the books. Sigh. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone who has used Classic Year Three knows anything about the resource section. Thanks for reading! Megan |

Mamazee,
What's your "real" name or would you like to email me? It's possible we've come across each other before and I don't realize it. I send out informational emails to homeschoolers in the area and I know I have some Hinton people on the list. I don't remember how much we did of Presidents when we were in year 4. I do want my kids to at least recognize American presidents' names. But I also tried to include Canadian prime ministers - there's a Kids book of Canadian Prime Ministers we used. How old are your kids? Mine are 16, 14, 9 & 7. Juanita |
