I am looking ahead to a unit 2 writing project for level 6 (5-6 page research report) on the history of painting techniques and materials during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The paper is intended to explain the seven elements of design in painting and tell how certain Renaissance artists (and/or Medieval artists) developed them. OK, I get that. But I have no earthly idea what kind of resources to look for to use! Obviously, we can Google some things -- but I want my daughter to use at least 2-3 print resources as well. Do you have any suggestions on resources? I did a key word search at our library but am afraid I am being too specific so it isn't coming up with anything useful. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Monica

Hi Monica,
Did you see the "art terms supplement" at the end of Week 11? Using largely the supplement and The Story of Painting by Sister Wendy (available at Bookshelf Central or through many libraries), your student could extrapolate a good deal of information. If you are doing an Internet search for other helps, I'd probably look under "art history" or "Renaissance artists" and "principles of design" and/or "elements of design."

Hope this helps!

Blessings,

Thank you, Dana. I do have Sister Wendy's book and have dug into it. But I have to admit I completely missed the wk 11 supplement -- thanks!
