I was wondering. How do you determine which level to start a child on? Are there any helps on this in the materials that I am going to receive?

Also I will be getting Easy Grammar for my 4th dd, but what is recommended for a 9th who has completed Winston Grammar Advanced? If Easy Grammar, then which resource do I get?

Hi Susan,
To determine the level that you need to begin with any student, take a look at the "Writing Level Overview" that you'll find on the Loom. From there, see where your students deficiencies are and back up until you reach the lowest level that has a good deal of things that your student still needs to learn. Typically, over the course of a school year, the student can catch up to "grade level" and then enter the level that matches his grade the following year.

Easy Grammar: You don't need it for a 9th grader. We recommend Latin instead, which requires and reviews English grammar very thoroughly.

Thank you for responding to my question. You mentioned having the 9th grader take Latin. Where do I find these types of recommendations. I remember reading a chart that showed what additional language art supplements were needed, but I can't find that now. I have Writing Aids, but I didn't see anything there.
