Hi,

I am realy struggling with this assignment. I can do the sample of the describing wheel, but for the kids to complete the wheel they need to describe the general fashions and culture of those living at the same time as Justinian. SO with what do we start? To we fill the wheel in with the names of the different people or with fasions or with culture. I think for most this is just logic - but I just do not know where to get the info for them to complete this assigntment.
Can any one help me please!

Hi Venessa,
If you own the dialectic resource, The Byzantine Empire, by James Corrick, you'll see a chapter about the Byzantine culture. Your students will get the bulk of the information here.

Sections in the wheel can be about: fashion, education, architecture, art, religion and churches, etc. The student at the level should try to look for common threads to include about each of these areas of culture. In this particular instance, the student will want to find facts that show that the Byzantine culture was advanced and/or information about the artistic talents displayed through various areas of culture.

If you don't have the book, try doing an Internet search; doing this type of research is a valuable skill for kids today.

like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"

Hi Dana,

Thank you so much! When I was reading this assignment agian I realized that is what I was suppose to do. Then we just struggled to get the specific info about this era.

Writing is just so overwhelming for me - English is not my first language and I guess that I can admit that I am a student as much as my children are!

I do appreciate your feedback.

Kind regards
Venessa
