I need some sample sentences for dictation to use with boys in LG and UG. It would be helpful if the sentences coordinated with the Year 2 history topics. Reading on the past Forum posts I saw that some families use Bible verses or the Queen copywork books for dictation. I have the Queen Copywork for Little Boys, but it would be difficult form my LG son to use for diction instead of copywork. I would appreciate samples or suggestions.

I used lines from the literature books from the week, or from literature books my kids loved. For LG, though, I don't think you could do as much dictation. I would concentrate on copywork for that age since their spelling is probably not up to the task (at least not for my kids!)

It is copywork but after doing a few days of copywork you maybe can ask for dictation from the same passage?
That's what we're doing with Spelling Wisdom. The first days of the week are copywork and the last day are a sort of test, doing the same passages as dictation.

Hope these things help. WTM boards also have a ton of stuff on copywork if you want to do a search there. I'm sure you'd find lots of file samples at Charlotte Mason's Ambleside Online's site too.
