Susan,
Here are some examples from Writer's Inc. Scroll down to where it says Student Models and then click on the links to three personal narratives. Examples of Personal Narratives There are two examples at the Write Source 2000 website: Examples of Personal Narratives I typed "How to write a personal narrative" in Google and a lot of sites came up, so you may be able to find more helps there. Oops! I am SO sorry! My Level 9 students wrote their personal profiles before Christmas, and my Level 5 student is working on a personal narrative right now - and I am totally confused!
You can still use the links above, but look down a bit further to "Profile of a person." One of my dss used his interview report from the previous week and wrote a profile of John Calvin. My other ds wrote a profile of himself. He answered the question: "What three things do you most enjoy doing when you have time all to yourself?" He then related his answers to God's working in his life. The following site also has some good information. A personal profile would be considered a "biographical narrative," I think. Great Source iWrite Anyway, I hope this post gives you a bit more help than my last one! Blessings, Susan in La Mom to 16yods (R), 15yods (R), 12yo dd (D), 11yo dd (D) Redesigned 4 “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Gen. 1:28) |

Hi,
A personal narrative is a story about oneself. Do you remember in public school writing the "what I did over summer vacation" assignment? That's a personal narrative. A personal profile, on the other hand, can be about oneself OR someone else. The writer relays information about this person's contribution to society, his church, etc., what his gifts and talents are, etc. Hope this helps... Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
