My Writing Aids hasn't arrived yet and I don't know what a Ladder Diagram is. I need to teach it this week if possible. Can anyone explain this for me or point me toward an example?

Thanks!

I just is a way of showing a progression of events. Looks like a ladder. You fill in the events between the rungs.

I found a filled in one, using Google's image search. It's also prettier than Writing Aid's ladder:

"One of the major flaws in some forms of reader-response criticism is that they tend to ignore the compact between author and audience, overlook that the author had some purpose and information to convey when he wrote the document, and assume that it is the reader who can and must decide what sorts of things, including what sort of meaning, one can derive from a text."
