Does a one page essay mean five paragraphs?
We're looking at the assignment for literature for week 4 and my son has added more of his own thoughts than specific examples from the book.
While this is good in terms of assesing what he is taking in from his learning this week - I want to concentrate also on his form in terms of composition.
He has basically written a longer one paragraph page rather than an organized essay.
I could have him go back and add in specific examples from his reading but am wondering if I shouldn't also take the opportunity to go through Writing Aids Analytical Essay process information and require this to be more formal?
I know we're towards the beginning of the year in terms of composition so I don't want to get into it if this is more of an assignment to have him gather thoughts than to refine his essay skills.
Hope this makes sense...
Stephanie

Just fyi - I have researched the writing in level 9 a bit more and see that an analytical essay is assigned during week 8. The thesis and writing process are all expectations to be learned during that week.

As such, I'm going to pat my guy on the back for doing a great job of voicing his opinion and call it done.
We'll worrry with the mechanics of an essay when we get to week 8.
