I am planning out my stragtegies for the coming year and see that the first thing in the writing assignments is to set up a grammar and composition notebook.

I would like to know how many sections does the notebook have? Week one say we are setting up the "reference" section.

Also, what size notebook have people found to be right for this? I don't want something too small or too big.

Hi,
Do you have Writing Aids? If so, it's explained there.

With my boys, we found that 1.5" binders worked best in high school, and 1" worked fine in younger years.

I've been researching how to set up "Grammar and Composition Notebooks" -- and I couldn't find the information at first...

For those that are looking also, it's in the Writing Aids book, p 63 & 64 -- but it's NOT on the CD.

I *did* find information for the Reference section of the notebook on the CD -- "Proofreading Marks" and "Steps in the Writing Process".

Hope this helps someone else...

Hi,
I am setting up notebooks too, so really appreciate your post on this. I was "stuck", but now I know where to go.

I truly love TOG, but I think the biggest challenge I find so far is that information such as this is still a bit scattered. I hope at some point it all will get reigned in more, which I'm sure is a process that takes time.

Blessings,
Lucinda

I have also felt like info is scattered and have felt intimidated by the Writing Aids. I have just found helpful info under "supporting links" for the year you are doing. They are divided into categoreies:writing etc.

Hope this helps!
