In looking at the Year One writing assignments for the first unit at the LG level, I am a bit confused by the 'word bank' idea. Several weeks into the course it tells the student to get out their "sentence pocket". What is this? Do I need to purchase the Writing Aids to get the full scoop, or what?

Yes, it explains it thoroughly in Writing Aids.
In a nutshell though, the word bank cards are colored index cards. Each color represents a different part of speech and the student writes nouns on...say, the pink cards. He may write verbs on the blue cards, etc. Then, using the sentence pocket (or just lay them on a table if you don't have one), he makes sentences using the cards. It's a fun way for kids to learn to "write" sentences. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
