Hello all,
Does anyone have any thoughts on continuing to use the lapbook method with a son who is 12 years old? I know that I read somewhere that the thought is to move a son of the dialectic age group to creating a portfolio. Although he will be required to produce much more written work this year, I can see the lapbook as still being beneficial. I am open to any thoughts, those who agree or disagree. I would like to hear of your experiences. Also, can anyone share any thoughts on the "Ancient History Portfolio" that can be purchased at The Bookshelf, compared with creating one in a 3-ring notebook? Thanks so much, Laura |

Hi Laura,
If you are putting him in dialectic level, his work load is going to change because he will now have the accountability and thinking questions to answer in preparation for discussion time. In my opinion, that is the main thing to consider...will the lapbook then become busy work? If so, I'd discontinue using them. The Portfolios on the Bookshelf are really nice, but you can easily do them with a three-ring binder as well. Blessings, Dana C. in TN "Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" Deut. 32:2-4 |
