We have never done timelines before. Can someone get me started? Any ideas are welcomed. Thanks. I have lower grammar students.

Dear April,

I decided to wait until my students were at the Dialectic level before having them do timelines.

Here is how I do them once my dc have reached that point, though:

I use the Homeschool in the Woods timeline figures and the Wonders of Old e-book, but you could follow the same procedure using a Google Image search and a notebook. I copy and paste the figures that we need for each week (check the People and Timeline sections of the Weekly Overview chart) into a Word document and then print them out on full-sheet label paper. My dc cut out the figures, peel off the back of the label, and stick them on their timeline. They then color them with colored pencils. The label paper is very easy to work with and is much neater and faster than tape or glue.

Blessings,

I also wait until they are at the D level before assigning them. I just purchased the Homeschool in the Woods figures CDRom (I had a couple of sets of paper figures.) and Easy Timeline creator. These programs are compatible and I think will work very well for my 2 sons that are at the D level. timeline creator
My R level students do 2 different things. One does a binder and uses a form from donnayoung.org (timeline forms under the history tab. I really like this site for a variety of forms.). Another student follows the timeline notebook directions off of donnayoung.org website.

I hope that this helps.

Blessings to you and your family.

We do timeline using the Timeline creator software.

I spend some time using Google's image search to find images to use if desired.
