Hello fellow Mac Users!
I had a little trouble with downloading the dmg from LockLizard, so I thought I'd post how I go thru it for you MAC users. I went to the website: http://www.locklizard.com/download_digital_rights_management.htm Then clicked on the tab (toward the top) that reads DOWNLOADS. Scroll down the page to the box: DOWNLOAD LIZARD SAFEGUARD PDF SECURITY MAC is in RED for download. When I used Firefox, it failed. (Instead of automatically downloading the dmg, it opened screen with gibberish...computer code, I'm sure!) Use SAFARI & it worked fine. (Automatically downloaded the dmg! yeah!) Just thought I'd share! Merry Christmas! KimberlyNC |

I didn't see your post first, and I posted my experience on the DE section. Now that I know somebody else that did this, let me ask you some things!
I was able to open the product from Lizard without issues by using the 2nd e-mail TOG sent me. I was expecting, however, a pdf file that would be read by Adobe. Since the .dmg file is a disk, it's a little different, and I've never done a .dmg file before. Do we just keep the dmg file mounted as a device? If we accidently eject it, do we have to reinstall the dmg file, or is the disk somewhere else on the computer? I've never known a disk to be "stored" anywhere else on a computer, so if I accidentally eject it I'm assuming I'll have to reinstall everything. What do you know about all this and dmg files! Thanks! Deanna |

Deanna,
I'm not sure I should be the one to give advice on this! I sort of get thru it on a 'wing and a prayer'! But I will try. (We may need to move this off the eGroupee to personal email unless the moderator believes it may help others. kfennie@roadrunner.com) Find the dmg file & click on it. It should automatically start-up at that point. (I did the yesterday & have deleted it already, so I hope I can recall all of the steps accurately!) You should see a quick flash of "Opening Install _Y3U3_special.dmg" with a progress bar (don't know if that is the technical name, but that's what I call it!) Then you will see an icon that looks like an 'external disk drive' ..mine reads Disk Image below the icon. From finder, I clicked on the above mentioned Disk Image icon & 2 icons came up. I then clicked on the CONFIG icon & more folders come up. Click on the folder named PDCS & each of the weeks information is there. When you click on each of these files, it will open in Lizard & you can view, print, etc. I hope that was clearer than mud. Email me if you have other questions & I will try to assist! Blessing to you the Christmas! KimberlyNC |

That's exactly what I did. Ray from TOG has responded to my post in the DE section describing all of that, and apparently we're supposed to be able to open the "index.htm" file and it should flow from there without having to use the pdc's. I have posted to let him know that once I open the index.htm file (which appears to be a secure web page) and click on the links, all the links do is open a new Finder window with the pdc folder in it. Based on his first response to me, the index.htm file was supposed to do everything, so I think the fact that it just opens the pdc folder rather than the actual data doesn't seem right. If that's all the index.htm file does, then it makes more sense just to go straight to the pdc folder, rather than get to it the round-about way by using index.htm first instead. I'll be interested to hear his response.
I'm also still wondering what happens if I accidentally unmount the Disk Image .dmg disk. I'm supposing I have to do a total reinstall again. I've never worked with an external "disk" of this type that is virtual and licensed, meaning restricted. I'd also like to change the name of it from Disk Image to something else so nobody else unmounts it, thinking it is unnecessary. I'm sure there's a way to do this, since I can name all the other disks that are mounted. Deanna |

Ray says that's exactly what it is supposed to do, so all is good!

There is nothing secure about the index.htm. It's just a pretty interface designed to make it easy to move from one week plan to another. The security is in the .pdc documents. By clicking on a link in the index.htm file, it opens one of the .pdc files.
Is it possible to copy the config file (and all its contents) and the index.htm file to somewhere on your computer and then unmount the "disk" to clear up space on your desktop? I don't know much about Macs, but want to be helpful. |
