I'm trying to keep up with all the changes, and getting very confused! Basically I would like to be able to use TOG long-term, with all my children. I will get the DE, but I would want print backup in case of future changes within the company. In other words, I would like my TOG use to be as computer-independent as possible (excepting MapAids/WritingAids.) If I get the DE and a print copy, will I be good to go for years of use? Or am I still dependent on the Loom or other such thing? Also, I can't find what the price is for DE/print copy. And why were so many people trying to get the print copy before the deadline if there was still going to be print copies available? Should I have gotten a print copy at that time; are they still available? I'm finding all these details are very confusing. I do wish the DE price were lower to allow for getting a print copy-any chance of a decent discount if you order both? Thanks so much-keep up the good work! Leslie

Thanks for asking. For the sake of others reading this thread, let me first say that if you are ever confused about your options, you can call our customer service during business hours and they can walk you through your options and help you customize your purchase.

To simply answer your questions as asked:

1. You *can* get a printed copy to make TOG more long-term permanent, but it's definitely NOT necessary at this time. You can AT ANY TIME print your entire DE copy out of your home printer. No matter what happens with Lampstand (and we don't foresee any shaky ground for us at this time) you control your TOG files once you have put them on your computer.

2. An advantage to NOT printing a full copy of each unit at this time is that we provide updates to DE as books change, or we find typos. You certainly CAN get a printed copy, but you can also just print as you go, and save up-front money as a result.

3. The Loom is digital, but again, you control your files once you buy them, and you can print them.

4. The DE/Print package is ordered by choosing your DE units and then selecting the option to receive a printed copy. The prices differ unit to unit because we make not one penny from printed copies, so check the year-plan that you're buying for the individual price. They are produced for you at $.05/impression.

5. We have a limited number of offset-printed copies left for Years 1-3. You can still buy these. I truly would not make the decision based on the permanence of TOG. DE offers more because it's easily updated and you can print fresh copies as you use it for each child. While no one can see the future, with all possible humility I truly don't think that you need to feel insecure about the long-term use of TOG DE at this time. However, the choice is yours to make!
