I am researching TOG and any input would be appreciated. I have 4 children, who when we start our next year in the fall will be in 10th, 8th, 3rd and kindergarten. We have been using sonlight and are about finished with Eastern Hemisphere. Is it necessary to use the year 1 first or can I start in year 2? That way my oldest would get years 2-4 or should I try to combine two years somehow.
Blessings,
Lori

Hello, Lori

You can start with whichever year plan makes sense in your family. Years 2-4 provide solid high school work for three years in the subjects you choose to teach so unless you need something else, there is no need to double up.

Blessings,
Monica

You can start anywhere that fits best with your family- warningSmiler -- I started Year 2- 8 years ago and will be starting on my 3rd round of TOG with Year 2 this fall- so it might be contagious Smiler

First post, please be gentle. I'm brand new to home schooling. Next year is our first. I'm wondering if it matters what year plan they'll end up in when they finish 12th grade. I have a son just going into 3rd and a daughter just going into 2nd. If we start now at Year 3 my son will finish HS after the Year 4 but my daughter will finish after Year 1. Will that matter?

Hey Steph - welcome! Homeschooling is the ride of your life, but don't worry, God has held my hand all the way, and I'm sure He'll do the same for you Smiler

As to what year you end up with - your sweeties are so young, I really would NOT worry about it. Depending on your state and your educational goals, history requirements vary. TOG can fit all those needs as you go through. My eldest will finish her high school studies after Year 2 next year - and it's been great.

HTH!
