I remember Marcia came out with a nice way to condense unit 4 of year 1. Does the same thing exist with year 2? It looks like I will finish with unit 3 the 3rd week of May. We start school the 3rd week of July every year. I'm not sure what to do. Just pick up where we left off? If so, could I condense year 4 somehow? Is there some overlap between unit 4 of year 2 and unit 1 of year 3? To compound matters,my oldest will be 9th grade rhetoric level next year, so if I start with unit 4 I guess I would just keep him at dialectic and then move him up when we get to unit 1 of year 3?

HI,

Well, I'm working on it this weekend. It looks like the questions are really short for dialectic level on week 28. They are supposed to do a mini-report on colonial culture, so I dropped that. So they will be reading all the history and doing all the questions for weeks 28 and 29 in 1 week. I looked at geography and pared it down for those 2 weeks. My boys are fast readers, so we will do Gulliver's Travels that week as well. I will just choose one worksheet to go with it. It helps that we will be through with math by then and science. So basically it is history, history. I think I will do the same thing for weeks 30 and 31 and then 32 and 33. I will mainly concentrate on the history. Other than Gulliver's Travels, my boys have already read the literature selection so I will just concentrate on history. That leads me up to 34. I plan to pick up with 34 and 35 in much the same manner when we pick up with school. I believe that 36 and 1 overlap, so I will combine those weeks as well. That way I only have one additional week. Whew! If anyone has a better idea, let me know.
