Can you please share with me how to choose which of the primary reading assignments to assign to my upper grammar(2) and dialectic (1) children? I purchased all the primary source books and have found that assigning all the reading is killing my kids'desire to do history. It is simply too much; yet I am at a loss to determine which reading assignments to leave out unless I personally read through them all first. Is there a generalization that might be made that could help me cull through the reading suggestions quickly? There's so much great information but I have noticed that there is overlap. The instructions recommend to choose but how do you do this effectively, particularly with the accountability and thinking questions? I have a similar question for the worksheets and activities. Just doing the recommended reading and the worksheets is leaving them no time to do any activities. I really could use some help.
If so I'd let them read the primary book and you read the in depth history.
My UG child is not a strong enough reader for the reading so he only reads the literature on his own. So I would say any mix you choose between his very low level and reading all the material is the way to go.
