Greetings ladies,

I wonder if anyone would like to comment on your opinion regarding reading levels with TOG. My ds will be 11yrs old in September, kind of inbetween 5th and 6th grade. I just received my curriculum (Yr1)and I'm looking at the book choices for UG and Dialectic. I know I have freedom to bounce between the levels as I see appropriate, but I'm looking to purchase some books - sign unseen. Would anyone like to share an opinion about the reading level for books on the UG list, as compared to the Dialectic list, in general. For comparison sake, I used Sonlight for many years, and found their books to be on the advanced side for my kids, especially in the very early years. I'm wondering if a Dialectic book choice would tend to be a little advanced for a young Dialectic student. I'm wondering about difficulty reading, as well as content and themes. Thanks for sharing any of your comments!

Hi Vanessa,
I'd encourage you to begin in upper grammar, even if those books may end up being a bit on the easy side for your student. I personally think it is a good idea that, when beginning a new learning method, the student isn't overwhelmed with too much in any given area. You can always move up for the next unit if you'd like.

Blessings,

"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"
