Hi!
I am pretty much at the end of my book budget for school this fall and had determined to save money on Gulliver's Travels by using a translation from the library. I noticed when I purchased the Norton Anthology of English Lit, that a version of Gulliver's Travels is in there. Is there any reason this was not recommended by TOG as the source to use? Would I be able to use the Norton version instead of the Signet book recommended? Thank you so much! |

Hi! First off, the good news is that you won't need a translation, because the original was written in English. :-) Second, the reason we don't use the Norton version is because it's not complete: Norton includes excerpts rather than the entire work. However, if you don't mind the (hopefully minor) frustration of page numbers that don't match those referenced in the Teacher's Notes, you can certainly use a library copy! I'm pretty sure you can also find the full text online for free, if you do a search. :-)
Hope this helps! Christy Somerville |
