I'm confused about the reading assignment for 2nd printing Rhetoric in Week 24.

The 3rd line refers to reading "II.A. Review Intro through "The Renaissance Worldview in Renaissance Literature." It appears that the titles have changed and I can't discern which sections this is actually referring to. What are the new titles and what page numbers would this be? I'm not sure what Intro it's referring to either, the implied Intro for that section or the explicit one preceding it.

There's a similar problem with "III.A. The Neoclassical Worldview in Neoclassical Literature." I think that one probably is just pg. 58-64. Is that correct?

Thanks for any light you can give me so I can put the page numbers on for my co-op class (and me) to find these more easily!

Hi, Kate,

Thanks for your question about the Rhetoric Literature Loom Reading Assignment chart (what a mouthful! Smiler) There is an inconsistency in the way we referred to the sections that I think has made this confusing--sorry about that!

As you know, each major section in Frameworks is marked by Roman numerals (I, II, III, etc.) In the chart, we (try to) always refer to the largest section that a student is supposed to read. Thus, when we tell students to review III:A, they are supposed to read the entire section entitled "The Neoclassical Worldview in Neoclassical Literature," pages 59-65. Directly above that instruction, you see that students are also directed to read III: "Introduction," which is the section before, on p. 58.

We should have noted the Renaissance reading in the same way, which I think caused the confusion. Students are supposed to read the explicitly marked Introduction for the Renaissance section (p. 32-33) and section II.A: "The Renaissance Worldview in Renaissance Literature" (p. 33-38).

Clear as mud? Please ask if you have further questions, or let us know if for some reason your titles and/or page numbers do not match what I've given you.

Blessings,

Thanks so much for your prompt response!!! I really appreciate that, but still am a little confused. There is no section by the title "The Neoclassical Worldview in Neoclassical Literature." I did a search of the whole Frameworks document and couldn't find that title. (lower case search, but I still don't think it's there) Neither is there a section called "The Renaissance Worldview in Renaissance Literature." Thanks if you can shed any further light on this!

Hmmm, this might take a little clarifying work Smiler First, are you looking at Frameworks from the Year 2, 2nd printing Loom? If so, you should see that the first two pages are a table of contents. The second white section on the first page of that Table of Contents should begin with II. The Renaissance in big, bold letters. Directly under that you should see the word "Introduction" and directly under that you should see "A. The Renaissance Worldview in Renaissance Literature." The corresponding pages are pages 33-38.

If the document you are looking at does not have any of this, please email me at brittainy@tapestryofgrace.com and give me more details of the document that you have (and the year and printing). Hopefully we can get this straightened out!

Blessings,

Oops! Forgot to mention that you should also see "A. The Neoclassical Worldview in Neoclassical Literature" on the third line of the purple box on the second page of the table of contents.

Let me know if it's not there.

Thanks!

Sorry, but it's not there. I am going from the Frameworks pages we were given through the Bridge Page. Here's the link. http://tapestryofgrace.groupee.net/Y2%20Rhetoric%20Lit%...ion/FrameworksY2.pdf
The title there for II.A. is "A. Literature-Shaping Beliefs of the Renaissance." So I can make the connection that the title is just different. From what you said earlier, the assignment should be p. 32-38 and a clearer way to state the assignment would be something like:

Review Renaissance "Introduction" through *whatever title is for section II.A.*

Similarly, I think the title for section III.A. on the bridge page also does not match the title in the Reading Assignments.

P.S. I tried to phone you at Lampstand to communicate more clearly, but couldn't reach you that way. This shouldn't all be that big of a deal, but little things can make me stumble pretty big sometimes! *smile* Thanks for helping me get back on my feet.

Hi there,
You shouldn't need to use the bridge page anymore; these documents are on your Loom CD. Take a look there and see if you can find it.
