I will be homeschooling a LG and Rhetoric level student. I will need to be reading with my Rhetoric student for history. Does anyone have experience using the read aloud suggestions for both of these age groups? What are some ideas to cut costs of buying all of the LG and Rhetoric books?
Thanks

Hi,
We have some buying tips on the FAQ page at Bookshelf Central.

Your rhetoric student will not be able to answer Accountability and Thinking Questions using the read-alouds.

Here are a few more thoughts for you though:
*If your student doesn't need a Fine Arts credit yet, just skip the music, art, and architecture books. (Same goes for Government)

*You can use any book about the Presidents; you don't have to get the specific one that we sell at Bookshelf Central.

*You don't *have* to do Church History either. In fact, in Year 2, so much of it is integrated into the history, that I think you'd be just fine.

*A good deal of the rhetoric Literature assignments are public domain or are available at the library (even those in the Norton Anthologies). You'll have to do some adapting with page numbers of course, but sometimes budget constraints force this. Keep in mind though, that some literature in this time period is translated differently (and thus harder to read) by some editors.

Between this and the suggestions at Bookshelf Central, I hope this helps. Do feel free to ask more questions if necessary.

Blessings,

like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"
