In our copy of the Historical Atlas of Exploration, there are places where sections/chapters just end -- mid-sentence. For example, on page 73, the last (and incomplete) sentence reads "In late 1511 he drove off the besiegers, then" -- and that's it. Turn the page, and you find the next chapter beginning. The page numbers are in proper order (the new chapter begins on page 74), but the previous chapter doesn't conclude.

My dd says this is the fourth time since she started the book that this has happened. Since I don't know what all we're missing, it seems I need to exchange it for a different copy, but before I do, I wanted to see if this is a universal issue with this book.

Sorry that I'm just seeing your post. If you haven't figured it out yet, I believe that you are missing the second column of text on pages where there is a picture in that column also. It's pretty easy to miss because of those pictures.

Thank you, Dana. I can't believe she and I both missed that. That's what I get for missing so much reading in that book. I hadn't read that book myself after her first week's assignments in it (I try to complete all of her reading assignments myself); at least I'd likely have realized that what seemed to be happening on these pages hadn't happened repeatedly! Oh, my... I feel really silly.

Thanks so much for your response. It didn't seem slow in coming for me, by the way... I'm only now getting back to check the board for the first time since Christmas break began!
