There is a box on page 63 of The Byzantine Empire by James A. Corrick (Dialectic History) that describes the mutilation of a conquered king. One of my children found the description (as well as the picture) disturbing. I suggest that a warning be placed in future printings in the Glance for week 3 (the page is in Chapter 5).
