Hi I am new to TOG. I was wondering what to do with the weekly vocabulary list. Do you have your kids define them in a notebook, memorize them, as quiz info?? I really appreciate your input.
Sincerely,

Julie

I have done various things with the vocab at various times. Sometimes, I'll use a program that makes crossword or find-a-word puzzles and use the vocab words in the puzzle. This year, I had my dd start an index card box for her vocab words, adding to it each week and alphabetizing the words in the process. We haven't been focusing much on vocab lately, though, so maybe it's time for us to get into gear.

my daughter adds all her vocab for the unit to a notecard and files them alphabetically, then at the end of the unit, I verbally quiz her on them, the ones she doesn't remember, I make a matching quiz for on quizzlet.com she is 12 and is in 6th grade
hope this helps

I don't do any formal work with them. They are there if he needs help with a particular word in his readings. If you get the Evaluations CD, there is a file that is a glossary so they can look them up.
